Authentic Greek food. Must try the octopus appetizer! Also try the lamb chops! I haven't tried a better restaurant in south florida... and that includes my tour of miami.

Went here on Sunday for dinner and I will never eat here again... I was in the restaurant industry for over 12 years.. From hostess to server to bartender to manager.. This restaurant is under staffed and its unacceptable.. I get they were busy, but it took 15 minutes to be greeted at our table... I had the chicken gyro with no onion add cucumber.. Well they forgot the cucumber and the gyro was flavorless.. My boyfriend had the octopus salad.. Octopus was cold, dry and chewy.. He sent it back and the waitress said she would bring him a menu to see if he'd like to order something else. 15-20 minutes after she comes back (still no menu) would you like to order something else... Really????? All of this would have never happened if they had more staff... My boyfriend went home hungry.... Never again.. I don't know how they are always so busy when it affects their food quality and service...

I had been wanting to try Chris' Taverna for a while. I now regret not trying this Greek themed gem sooner. My friend and I stopped by late afternoon on a Saturday and the place was absolutely packed. A foretelling good sign. We ordered an appetizer of hummus, which came with pitas and also a plate of tzaziki sauce as well. The app was more than the two of us could finish, and delicious as well. We both ordered wraps, I had the gyro wrap with side of greek fries and she had the veggie wrap with side of lemon garlic potatoes. My gyro wrap was huge! overflowing with delicious lamb and beef. The greek fries with the feta were yummy as well. The lemon garlic potatoes were really good too. The portions were huge! Service was great as well. Really impressed and will be back for more.

Absolutely amazing!! I take out from this place at least once a week. The only downside is the size. Its quite small and feels a bit crowed but I love the food and the staff is fantastic! If u havent tried them do. My fav is the chicken pita with greek salad.

I Mostly take out; its small inside but they will make room for you they're friendly. Always great service always smiles pretty helpful. I've tried their gyros their souvlaki. They are packed with meat; good sauce. Love their Green beans, Lemon potatoes and Greek fries. Try dessert. Fast service

The best Greek food. They have two locations and they are both absolutely phenomenal, consistent, and just delicious. You can go to a $80 per person Greek place in Ft. Lauderdale with a blue roof close to the ocean which is another good place but this beats it for $20 per person or less. Owners are always around, staff is very friendly. We come here all the time. Lamb, octopus, calamari, all salads, everything... Yummmmmm

Chris' Taverna has great food, a little expensive, but with large portions. It is really hard to make this stuff at home unless you're mother is from Corfu or something. There is something for you to have if you're vegan and there is something to have if you're not and want to try something new. Get ready to have fun Greek adventures and have the best time of your life.

Good is delicious, but the management sucks. A large bug the size of a roach crawled across the table as we are our meal.we showed them the bug and the response was "what do you want us to do about it, we will throw it away." Not, we are sorry, nothing. 1st off a crawling bug on the table I'm really repulsive, and to not apologize or comp any part of our order is disgusting. We will be sure to tell our friends. I wish this didn't happen because we are, well were regulars.

This place never ceases to provide authentic Greek food of high quality with even better customer service. Yes, it is a bit more pricier than average, but the portions are tremendous. The owner is frequently spotted at the restaurant. He is very accommodating and friendly. Their kalamari is the best I've had thus far and is a must to order every time I go. It's tender, not chewy, not oily, and absolutely delicious.

The food was so fresh! Tatziki was the best I've ever had. Chicken salad was crisp and fresh with tons of flavor. I will be back!

Outstanding Greek and the only Greek place I will go. Is octopus is the best quality in town. They are always a little too busy but I can tell why. The spanakopita and hummus are the best.

The Greek food here ROCKS. My girlfriend and I order from here regularly and are never disappointed. The gyro's are delicious and they are PACKED with meat, you'll never leave hungry. Would highly recommend.

AMAZING! I went here on a Saturday night with my family and a young man opened the door for us and sat us down in the back. We were served Greek House wine that was great and complimentary pita bread with homemade sauce. Man there is just something about that sauce that just keeps me coming back for more. It was quite busy but are server whose name was Luvan i presume was attentive with a comical personality and delivered our food to us rather quickly for how busy it was. Trust me i wasn't complaining. I ordered a pork wrap and boy was it juicy! I also got a side of Greek fries with feta cheese on top and i was in heaven!! The prices aren't that bad either for the amount of food you get. I cannot wait until how my experience will be next time. Don't miss out!

Probably the best Avgolemono soup I've had so far outside my mom's (and now niece who has taken up the reigns). Fast, friendly service. Gyro for lunch was stuffed full of meat. Will definitely be back to try some Lamb for dinner!

So good we visited three times in one week! I've always liked Greek food, but after eating here I can say it's one of my favorite cuisines. To start they give you Warm Pita Bread with Tzatziki Sauce. Just the sauce is impressive - it has the perfect balance of bitter and spice. Once we saw how delicious they make a simple sauce - we knew we were in for a treat. On our first visit we had the Gyro Wrap and Loukaniko Wrap - WOWZA the Gyro had all the usual's, tomato, lettuce, the amazing homemade tzatziki sauce, but what was amazing was how much shaved lamb was stuffed inside. I've never had a restaurant give you so much meat - and not just any meat but, juicy, perfectly seasoned, quality meat! And the Loukaniko Wrap wasn't to shabby either - it was a large sausage and when you took a bite, you could hear the snap of the sausage and see the juice flowing out and back in the wrap - yum, yum! We've also tried the Souvlaki Wrap - and again the pork was juicy and excellently cooked. Also to note - when you order you can choose from fries, greek fries (topped with feta) or a salad. We get the salad - it's so fresh and colorful and huge, not at all your typical side salad - it could almost be a meal on its own! Last but not least is the Baklava. We were stuffed, but from our experience - I just knew it had to be good. The hubs always said he doesn't like Baklava - and my response was always, 'that's because you've never had a good one'. So we ordered it - and guess what - he LOVES Baklava :) Again they find the perfect balance, of soft & crispy with the dough, nuttiness and sweetness. If you are too full from the portion sizes of your meal - I recommend getting one to go. It's way to good to pass up. As far as service - it's superb! The servers are attentive, friendly and patient (especially our first time, when we didn't know the menu). The place is super casual and a great spot for lunch or dinner! This is a new favorite for us - and will be going back often!

Great place. I keep ordering the Mousaka and Greek fries as it is just so good. I am looking forward to another visit so I can venture out and try something new. Awesome service...a must try.

This is the best greek food I have had in the area. This place is always busy and it's because they have a quality product at a fair price. I truly enjoy Chris' Taverna every time I go. My favorite is the gyro.

Love this place, my go to restaurant. Either location is great! Lantana location is a little nice for outdoor seating, but the staff is very friendly and food is amazing! It's a must to stop by!

If you've never been here and like Greek food, give this place a try! The portions are large so sharing is almost a must! The Grecian platter is the house favorite at $27.95. It's 3 Baby Lamb Chops, a large portion of Gyro meat, Pork Souvlaki & fresh grilled vegetables. It also comes with a Greek side salad. 2 other favorites: Eleni's Combo comes with (again enough for 2) Mousaka, Pastitsio & Spanokopita & a Greek side salad $17.45 and the other is the Lamb Chop Platter which is 5 chargrilled Baby Lamb Chops cooked to your preference and comes with your choice of 2 sides and a Greek Side Salad for $24.95. Everything we've ever had here has been spot on so no matter what you have you can't go wrong! Even the chicken fingers for the kids are fresh and real! NOT chicken "nuggets" or pre-frozen!

I ate the Gyro salad. It is perfect. The portions are really big and it is very cheap, about 13$. Great.

My favorite Greek spot. I am a tough critic. This place is the best casual Greek spot I've been to. And they know it, so tack on 2 or 3 bucks to everything. I pay smiling.

Wow this place was really good. Great food, great decor, great service. The place is clean and attractively decorated with murals of coastal Greece. (Yeah I know is there any part of Greece that isn't coastal?) We were greeted by waitstaff at the door, which was a bit of a surprise (but welcome) for a little place like this. Menu is varied, with a whole page of different kinds of wraps, another page each for salads, appetizers and entrees. Wraps come with a choice of fries or Greek salad. We ordered the salad with ours, and they were brought to the table literally in one minute (I didn't time it but it was quick) with pita bread and tadziki sauce. (Wish spell check could fix that for me - it wanted to change it to Tajikistan though.) I was surprised at how good the salad was, I guess after lowered expectations elsewhere. When my souvlaki arrived, it was really chock-full of meat and veggies, and was really flavorful. Others at our table enjoyed their meals, also. This place is in a shopping center, a couple stores to the left of Publix. I'll definitely stop back if I'm in the area.

If you like Greek food, this is the place to go.. We've been here 3 times already and the food is consistently good.. They bring pita bread and A yogurt dipping sauce to the table.. We had the octopus salad that was to die for.. They're tomatoes taste like they were just picked in the back..the lamb chops and lemon potatoes were delish....the spanakopita was great and their desserts were unbelievable .... Portions were big enough to share...Don't pass this place up!

Chris' Taverna is known for it's notably long lines and crowds surrounding the entrance during dinner time. After years of curiosity, my husband and I decided to give it a shot! Upon entering, we were welcomed by staff directing us to seat ourselves. The dining area was small and tables can fit up to 4 guests. The menus were a bit dingy and contained old camera phone quality images of each entree. I chose the vegetarian gyro, which was filled with roasted eggplant, peppers and onions. A large Greek salad and side of hummus completed the meal. Service was fast and attentive and we received free roasted pitas with a fresh and delicious tatziki sauce for dipping. My husband chose a lamb gyro and although the thought of red meat makes me gag, he seemed to enjoy every bite of that meat filled delight. Our total was about $20 and we were in and out in under 30 minutes. I would definitely recommend for a weeknight meal when you are on a time crunch!

Finally had a chance to eat here without a wait. 4pm Sunday. Had a fabulous meal. Delicious lamb shank, roasted potatoes, string beans in tomato sauce with enough left for another meal. Also great service by Luvan. I will be back.

Stop searching and GO HERE. I cannot wait to come back to this place! While visiting the in-laws in South Florida I found this place on Yelp, and couldn't have been more pleased. The service was exceptional, the food was incredible, and everything was wonderful. Luvonne was our waiter and was on-point with everything. Def try the grilled octopus, you will not be disappointed! Gyros were delicious and the serving sizes were huge. Everything about this place was fantastic. We'll be sure to visit here every time we're in town.

Absolutely wonderful! Everything we ate was as good as it gets. So fresh, perfectly cooked. Delicious. Sebastian provided us with service better than we've had in very fine restaurants. We love Greek food and have eaten in many Greek restaurants throughout Florida and other states in the U.S. This by far has been our favorite. Very happy and full tummy.

The food and service is impeccable. Get here early. If you prefer, there is outdoor seating, but only a few tables. Once you enter you are immediately greeted and seated. You are immediately asked what beverages (try the Mythos beer) you would like and they are brought to the table along with tzatziki (one of the Best you will ever have) and fresh pita. On the menu is a plate called the Grecian Platter that has 3 grilled lamb chops, gyro meat, souvlaki meat and veggies with a Greek salad on the side. It is literally enough to feed FOUR for only $27.95. The portions are Generous and Fresh. The appetizers range in price from $4.95 for the stuffed grape leaves to $13.95 for the chargrilled octopus with a lot of other great selections in between. The wraps, salads, and entree selections range in price from $8.95 to $27.95 If you have little ones there is a kids menu of chicken fingers and a cheese burger both with fries for $7.95. Desserts are to "die for" Baklava, Galaktoboureko (custard in filo) and almond cookies. You really need to make the trip to visit this Fantastic Greek restaurant. Don't miss out.

Very good Greek food at reasonable prices makes this restaurant quite a draw. Vegetarian gyro (not on menu) was huge, served with a generous Greek salad that hit the mark. Lentil soup was a winner too. Dining room is spacious, crowded, and unusually loud, requiring me to eat with earplugs. There is outdoor seating, but it is limited, so I would recommend coming early to beat the crowd. Dining outside was a very nice, uplifting experience that easily brought back fond memories of those funky seaside joints in the Aegean. You can always expect fast, gracious, service from the happy and energetic staff. A big thumbs up here!

This place is super cute ! We came in for lunch around 2:30, and it was still pretty busy. I like that it's a sit down restaurant, I expected a different environment. Our server was super nice, she informed us that the Gyro was a nice size and my boyfriend and I could share it, since I didn't want to be too stuffed. The meal comes with fries/ or salad, we had the salad. The side salad was so colorful and delicious. For starters they give you complimentary pita and tzatziki sauce that is super fresh! We had to order Baklava since she said it was made in house and it was really good. It was a perfect ending to our meal, and we will definitely come back!

Wait staff is very friendly and professional at both locations. Greek fries are a welcome addition to the menu. I am a HUGE fan of their Gyro and Pork Sausage wrap. Either is easily a 10-10! Highly recommend either location. Dinner time is a guaranteed wait though due to how popular they are (this is a good thing and well worth the wait no matter how long).

Too legit to quit The octopus and the meat Oh and octopus Yes that was a haiku review with mc hammer reference. Honesly this was the best octapus in south Florida. The Grecian platter was also great but the amount of meat is out of control. I split it with my wife and we still couldn't finish. Mythos beer too top it off. I'll be baaack...

One of the best experiences I've ever had at a restaurant in my life - no exaggerating. I visit FL every year with my bf and always like to have Yelp help decide where to dine so we went with this place. SO glad we did. We sat right down and ordered the hummus and tzatziki sauce right away. The waiter(I hate that I can't remember his name!) suggested the Greek beer, Mythos to go with it and we were pleasantly surprised how good it was! The hummus was just amazing. I had the Souvlaki wrap for an entree and it was delicious as well and it came with feta fries(OMG) and a Greek salad. The food was yummy and had good prices but the service made this experience AMAZING. He was attentive, made suggestions, and seemed REAL(not fake nice like a lot of waiters are). We were so pleased with our experience and this is our first stop when we visit FL again!

The food is amazing; the best Greek I've had in south Florida so far. The prices are very reasonable and the staff is always friendly and efficient. Even when though the place is always packed they still get everything out quickly.

My wife and I have driven past this place on several occasions and tonight we stopped in. My wife's sister married into a Greek Family and the food YaYa (Mom) prepared is my only point of reference when it comes to Authentic Greek food. Atmosphere at Chris' looks almost fast food like but the food and service is far from that. When we sat down we were greeted with warm pita bread and Tzatziki sauce. We started our order with the stuffed grape leaves appetizer. They were tasty but when I had had them previously they were stuffed with rice and ground meat. These were rice only. Our waitress came by to see why I did not finish them... I explained they were not as expected. She said oh you must be used to the ones with meat that YaYa makes. I said yes (fun exchange). She explained that these were the version that go with a salad the one with meat with entree. She made me feel like I was in a family kitchen not in a Publix plaza. For the main course I got the Souvlaki Plate Chargrilled chunks of marinated pork.$14.95 and it came with two sides. I got the Greek salad no complaints and the Greek potatoes which had a nice lemon flavor and cooked just right. My wife got Eleni`s Combo Mousaka, Pastitsio &Spanakopita.$17.45 The portions were huge and was more than enough to take for lunch tomorrow. I got to taste all three and I would have been happy getting that entree for myself as well. We ended the meal by getting two orders of Baklava Nuts & honey baked in filo dough.$4.75 to go. Now were home waiting for the coffee to brew so we can enjoy the nutty treat.

I have been looking for a good Greek place since I left my little college town in NY and this is it!!! As soon as I tried the tzatziki I knew it was going to be amazing! I got the gyro platter with a Greek salad. The feta on the Greek salad was a perfect amount and the flavors of the gyro was exactly what I wanted! I can't wait to go back!!!

We are from California and visiting family in Boynton Beach. Actually thought we were going to a different restaurant that was recommended and realized we were at the wrong one. Wow! We were not sorry! The food was superb, the owner was gracious, and Sebastian our waiter was the best! This is not a fancy place but it's friendly, reasonably priced, and clean.... no Windex required. Our party of 10 had a great time!

Always great food and great service! My first impression of this place was great from the moment I stepped into the dining area to the time I paid the bill and left. The Food which is out of this world was very authentic. The prices are very reasonable, the place was packed but still the service was outstanding considering the number of guests that they had dining in. It's been about a month since I've been there and when I talk about the food and reflect on what I had to eat there, I can't help but to crave going back to have more. I don't think there's any reason for me to try another Greek restaurant because they've really got everything that I need right there in one place. Thank goodness they have more than one location! Yummy!! Melissa L.

Stopped here on the way back from a modeling shoot in South Beach and after dining here I was happier than General Zod after he discovered where Superman was hiding in Man of Steel. The service was outstanding and friendly and the owner constantly checked in on us to make sure we were happy. He even gave us an Ouzo on the house. Everything was excellent but the saganaki stood out more than Kate Moss at a Lane Bryant store. Even better, my tab ended up costing less than what you would pay for a wireless device decorative case at a portable mall market sales cart kiosk. If I had a choice between watching Point Break 100 times in a row or eating here once I would eat here; yes it's that good.

This place has the best greek food in town! I don't think I'll go to any other greek restaurant in Palm Beach County! This "no frills" place has great service, the portions are generous, and the food quality is close to superior! They even have take out! Try this place! I'd be surprised if you don't enjoy it! Also, the Lantana location is just as good, but get there early to avoid the long wait at that location. :)

Great Greek food tzatziki sauce with naan is complimentary, it is very fresh. We had avgolemono soup which was delicious. A Greek salad came with my order of gyro both were equally delicious, the gyro was freshly made. It's a fast comforting Greek place that's makes fresh dishes.

  • David K.

Best gyro! Just like it's big brother on Lantana, this location has good, fresh food, big portions and delicious food. I have taken many friends here for their first time and now they are regulars. If you like big bang for your buck, this is it!

Did take out for a cpl gyros. I requested one with no lettuce and the other with. The cost was $21 and change...which seems kinda high, but wait. When I got home the gyros were made as ordered and they were absolutely loaded with meat. I would guess each gyro has a half pound of meat. I'm a big guy and I had a hard time finishing mine. I'm certain the wife didn't finish hers. The quality of the food was fine and the taste was great. The order took 10 minutes to make and that worked for me. I have been here once before to eat in and had the spinach pie. The pie was also top notch. I see no faults here.

A "must go" destination if you want Greek food that a notch above. We ate ouside for dinner on a day with a hint of a chill. The staff paid close attention to the heaters that allowed us to focus on their fine food. Good for them. We started with nice side salads. Love the Kalamata olives. Went well with the garlic pita wedges they serve rather than plain bread. Chicken pita with their signature fries with feta. Yum! Was that a hint of lemon I tasted? Double yum. Almost as good the next day warmed up for lunch. Two-day yum! Mama's special stuffed eggplant was very tasty. Filled with flavorful meat (did they include the eggplant flesh in the mixture?). At first it was a little hard to cut but after a few minutes it began to cool and firm up. I liked it best that way. Either way it's something I'd order again. (Check their menu online.. Mama's Specials vary by day.) Baklava was top notch and generous with a high, fluffy profile. I didn't ask, but I don't think it would hold up if it was made elsewhere and trucked in. The coffee was odd. All I wanted was "regular" black coffee. "Greek coffee?" No, regular. "Espresso?" No, just a regular cup of black coffee. Wound up with a large cup (regular size?) of Greek coffee. Oh well, I like Greek coffee and the cup was quite nice, a style I'd never seen before. We're going to go back next week with friends. Wonder what Mama's Special will be that day. Can't wait to find out.

Chris' Taverna has some amazing Greek dishes that taste exactly as they do in Greece! Big portions, great prices, and friendly staff. The dining room ambiance is not the greatest (bright lighting, crowded tables, and quite loud), so I usually get my order to go, and it is ready in literally minutes! I'm a definite a fan of this place...

    (5)
  • E D.

I have never been disappointed with Chris's Tavern, either location. The menu is wonderful, as to if you are starving or just want a snack. The Wraps come with a choice of sides and I always get the Greek salad -sometimes the green beans. It is excellent (and comes with a grape leaf). The Gyro is out of this world. If you are in the mood for something less heavy, the Chicken Platter/Wrap will not disappoint. If you are quit hungry, the dinners are all out of this world. For fries, fo for the Greek ones (after all, if you are like me, why not have more feta!). The servers and managers are extraordinarly nice and accomidating. The service is always great. I'm giving it 5 stars, as they are masters of what they do. It is laid back, with fantastic food. It might not be white table cloth, but it doesn't need to be.

Good food but be warned, the amount of food requires you to be very hungry and still expect to take some food home. Very good food and service. I recommend the grilled octopus. Deelish.

This greek food ...is the best I've had from ny and I eat good food all over and I always look for the best I can find ...I had the octopus salad and mussels ....all great and fresh ...I will be going back to that location because not only was the food a five star the staff was as well ...don't miss this gem .....*****

Amazing! Just went there for dinner last night and I can't wait to go back! My husband has been begging me to go there since it has been a favorite of his for years. Greek food has never been high up on my list of must go to restaurants but I gave in and I'm so glad I did. The staff was very friendly and although it was crowded we got a table immediately There were 3 of us at dinner and this is what we ordered: Humus: The pita was warm and soft and the humus didn't have too much oil on top which I hate. Greek Salad: Crisp, fresh, and loved that it had a lot of olives in different colors not just black. It also had just the right amount of dressing. Our friend got the Horiatiki salad and his tomatoes were not ripe at all but they insisted on making another even after we realized we had enough food for an army. They packed it to go which was extremely nice of the manager. Souvlaki platter, juicy chunks of pork and cooked to perfection. The portion was huge for the price. Mousaka/Pastitsio (Chris's Combo) I had never tried either so why not both? The Pastitsio was my favorite by far. The tomato sauce was great and the pasta was not soggy. The mousaka was not bad I just wasn't a fan of the potatoes in the dish. Greek Fries: WOW! fries with feta all over the top. I'm a fan for life! Lemon Herb Potatoes: I was so stuffed that I only tried one bit and they seemed soft and flaky. Since moving to Lake Worth 6 months ago this is probably one of my new favorite restaurants. I highly recommend Chris' Taverna

Best Greek restaurant I've been to outside Greece, and I've been to a lot... Incredibly tasty and fresh.

Other people I know seem to really love this place but I never seem to like it quite as much. I usually find something pretty good to eat here. The souvlaki is the best thing I've tried. The greek burger and spinach pie were both ok too. I've had some sort of shrimp and pasta dish which was so-so. Expect long waits during peak hours.

The best Greek you can get in the area.

Always fresh! Always delicious! I'm sooo happy that the second location has opened up! It's located in a quickly growing plaza and it is definitely well received. The gyro platter is typically my go to and the portion size is enough for leftovers without breaking the bank! Service is up to par and everyone who comes in to dine seems pleased with their experience.

This is our favorite place to eat at! Our waiter Sebastian is the absolute best and treats us like family and we come in and we feel like we truly are. The food is fantastic and the delivery is speedy quick, we are in and out in 30 minutes if we want and an hour if we feel like a slower meal. The prices are very fair and the atmosphere is nice and inviting. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Love it! This is my fourth time here and it's never a let down. The food is great and the staff is amazing. I would recommend it hands down. I recommend the gyro, baklava and of course a glass of wine. But surely anything is great here.

Wow, another great meal. I had a giant portion of a greek dish that I can't pronounce. It was the greek version of lasagna, which had layers of macaroni noodles and ground beef covered in a tomato sauce. You get your choice of sides and we chose lemon potatoes which were giant sized and tasty as well. This was the best version of this dish pretty much ever and we had some nice outdoor seating and owner came out to greet us as well. Go Greek.

So good. Always a satisfying meal. They are nice and happy to customize. I do take-out a lot and they always double check to make sure it's right. The gyros are outstanding; so is the chargrilled chicken, the shrimp Saganaki, grilled Mediterranean pita bread and the Greek fries. The tzatziki is the best I've ever had. This has become my go-to when I need a great meal.

Best Greek food in town. Well-priced. One of my favorites. I have yet to be disappointed with any visit I make here. They say they have the best gyro in town, and it's hard to argue. The calamari is amazing and always love to get the little squid mixed in. Love everything about this place. Great food, great service. Top 5 restaurants on my list.

The new 2nd location for Chris' Taverna is in the new Boynton Lakes Plaza I love the new location its more casual and has fast service. They serve the kind of food you would get in Greece, Greek Comfort Food.... Everything on the menu is great, I have never been disappointed.. It is family owned and has a very friendly atmosphere... The Calamari is outstanding, The Lemon Potatoes are also a must oh and I can't forger the yummy Greek Fries, also try the Greek Pastisio or Spanikopita and ask for extra of there homemade tzatziki sauce its my fav.. The other location is always so busy and is so popular so this location is really convient and closer to me.. They have takeout also, so either sit in or take out I have done both and the food has been great every time... I highly recommend this place....

Heard how good Chris' Taverna is so couldnt wait to go. It was everything i had heard. The calamari was just great! Generous portions. The Greek salad also was very good with all fresh and crisp. We even received a dish with Tzatziki and pita bread to eat while waiting for our food and drink to arrive. Cant wait to go again and try something else on the menu. Was a great lunch without a lot of fats and sugar!!

What a surprise. In a strip mall there is this oasis of great Greek cuisine. The octopus was tender and seasoned to perfection. Eleni, our waitress was excellent. The portions are generous. We asked for medium rare on the lamb chops and Eleni said they wouldn't do it that way. But she brought the manager over to explain that medium was like medium rare we wanted and she was right. We will return again and again.

I went to have dinner here with my sister. This restaurant works a little different. After making a selection you bring the menu to the counter and place the order. Then you sit back down and they bring you the food once it is prepared. The food was great. I explained I do not eat cheese and they prepared my food without any mistakes. The staff was super nice. I would definitely go back and do recommend this place. They had a good selection on the menu.

This place is so good, I'm considering giving up my diet just so I can eat here on the daily. There is no bad dish. I took my grandparents here who have never had Greek food, and they were very skeptical. They ordered food and gave me "that look" as if they are never coming to visit me again for taking them here. But after they finished they couldn't stop raving about it. Now when they call from their home town (Texas) they can't stop talking about "that Greek stuff". If they loved it, you will too.

After training at LA fitness Nearby my Man and I wanted a healthy dinner so we Yelped it. Gianna suggested Chris'Taverna and it delivered my stomach's desire. In the Publix Plaza , we walked into Chris' and up to the nice Granite counter and squinted at the menu overhead, then we grabbed a to-go menu to order off of there to make neck and eye straining less pain full, then ordered. We sat down and the waiter brought out complimentary warm Pita points with Tzatziki sauce it was really great way to start a meal. He ordered the Greek Gyro Platter ($13) with Rice pilaf with peas, and Side Greek Salad ; Mixed greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, feta cheese, Kalamata olives, dolma, pepperoncini and house dressing, asked for no tomatoes and they omitted it. I ordered the Grilled Chicken Breast Platter ($13) Marinated char- grilled chicken breast and double salad on the side. The dressing that came with the salad was tasty and the Tzatziki sauce it came with was delicious. The meals were tastefully filling and the decor was very appealing they did a great job here, I will be back!

Dining at Chris Taverna is one of the most authentic and personalized experiences you'll find in South Florida. Chris, who moved from Greece alongside his mother and brothers to the South a Florida area, opened the eatery in 2004. Originally, he only expected dine-in service to max out at five tables, but during the 2004-2005 series if hurricanes in the area, the up and coming Greek tavern made a huge splash in the community since they were one of the only restaurants with electricity during the many storms. Since then, Chris moved, expanded and added a second location - all due to the authentic and flavorful cuisine combined with the personalized service the tavern is known for. Menu highlights include the grilled lamb chops, a powerful mix of garlic and herbs with the trademark meat of the Greeks. Combine that with a side of traditional orzo pasta and Greek salad and you'll have the perfect meal to wash down with a glass of Greek wine. For appetizer, order the fried cheese, it's a performance as well as an extraordinary burst of lemon and gooey cheese. Finally, the custard pie is a sweet and smooth finale to your traditional Grecian experience. The food is good and the family is the heart and soul of Chris's successful Lake Worth eatery.

Good Greek food in a luncheonette/pizzeria atmosphere. Reasonably priced. Had the Gyro plate and was well satisfied. Pleasant fast service and a decent selection of the usual Greek/Mediterranean selections. No surprises nothing disappointing. Will check out some of the lamb items next visit.

My favorite!!! Portions are enormous and the prices are right! I normally get (to go) the Gyro salad and the Shrimp Saganaki. Their Dolmadakia (grape leaves stuffed with rice) are awesome. I have had some of the best Baklava on the planet and I would say that this is the only thing on the menu that wasn't great. I don't really care though because everything else is excellent! Enjoy!!

Perhaps I've been spoiled by some terrific Greek food up north and in Greece itself, because I wasn't as thrilled with Chris' as others are. No problem with the staff, the portions, or the prices. I just think the flavor is on the weak side. Maybe it's just been toned down for the south Florida locals.

Excellent food great service just avoid it like any other place during season in south florida or be prepared to wait. One of the better greek places in boynton beach.

Wow! Where do I begin? Let's just start out by saying that the food is AH-mazing!! This is by far the best Greek food I've ever had. It puts Jimmy the Greek in Boca to shame.. Everything is so flavorful! I have been meaning to try this place for a while after seeing the rave reviews on yelp..then a random friend posted something about it on fb and I had to try it, well so happy I did! We did take-out and I ordered the grilled chicken breast platter. It came with your choice of size and a delicious Greek salad. I got the roasted lemon potatoes and OMG! I don't know what they put in them but those were THE best potatoes I've ever had and I'm picky! They had a perfect balance of flavor so buttery and delicious! It was served with some warm pita bread and tztaiki sauce (not sure if I spelled that right lol) had a glass of red wine with it and just wow.. best meal I've had in a long time! Check it out you won't regret it! Oh and you MUST TRY THE POTATOES !!! I can't wait to go back and taste the more of the menu..I will definitely be back!

Chris' Taverna is a busy little restaurant in a strip mall with Publix, Duffy's and a bunch of other businesses. We went a bit later in the evening and every table was occupied. There's some outside seating as well, but most of those tables were empty - but then again, it was a very muggy night. The menu offers pretty standard Greek fare - hummus, stuffed grape leaves, avgolemono, gyro platters, lamb chops, moussaka - you get the idea. Service is brisk and efficient. We got warm complimentary pita points with tzatziki to start. The sauce was nice and tangy, a good accompaniment for the warm bread. I ordered the chicken breast platter and it came with two sides - I was good and even though I was dying for lemon potatoes I ordered the string beans in tomato sauce and a greek salad. The salad was a generous portion sprinkled liberally with feta in a tangy greek dressing with olives , red onion, tomato, cucumber and a delicious dolma. My chicken breast had a nice char but was still moist and well-seasoned. It came with more pita bread and a large portion of tasty green beans in a tangy tomato sauce chock full of garlic and onion. My friend had the chicken breast wrap which came with one side and she enjoyed hers as well. Turnover here is pretty quick so even on a busy night chances are good you won't have to wait for a table. Looking forward to trying their gyro platter and Greek fries next.

I've tried this place twice already and I'm afraid I'll have to dissent from the majority and barely give it 3 stars. There is zero ambiance with bright overhead fluorescent lights and tables lined up classroom style. The food is average and there was no hummus or tzatziki and pita freebie, like in some past reviews. Also very disappointing was their meze (appetizer) part of the menu (or lack thereof). Greek dining is all about sharing and this place has none of the Greek dip staples on their menu, such as: Taramosalata (fish roe dip), Melitzanosalata (eggplant dip), tyrokafteri (spicy cheese dip), etc. To me, that's a disgrace! The spanakopita (spinach pie) was the best tasting thing on the menu. The rest was at or below average. It's a shame one cannot get 5-star Greek food in South FL. If you find such a place, holla at me.

Tried this place and the service and food was really good. Greek salads were fresh and awesomeI I had the Gyro and WOW. The taste was one of the best I have had and the portion was huge! Love this place and will be back for sure! Count on it!!

I go to the other one on lantana. Came here today after coming back from a wedding weekend!!! My girlfriend asked for Belgium creme but apparently the manager drank it all. We then got hummus and a PETA sandwich with feta and tomato on it. Ordered our chicken salads as usual. I crave it!!!

I love Greek food. I LOVE Greek food that tastes authentic. I've eaten Greek food in many countries, including in of all strange places, Greece! The food at Chris' is very good. I've had the calamari, the grilled Mediterranean Pita bread with feta, their gyros and spanakopita. I've eaten there twice and I'm already a regular customer to them. I like this place!

Lacks any ambiance but the good food and reasonable prices keep this place packed year round. Sidewalk seating is quieter than fluorescent inside with older patrons who need to speak loudly to hear each other. You don't see families here. Gyros. Gyros. Gyros. Off the spit and done right. Get me some whole wheat pita and ill give them 5 stars.

I love Chris' Taverna and have been to both locations. I actually live closer to the Jog/Lantana location but prefer the Congress/Hypoluxo one. The staff are so very friendly, service is quick without it looking hectic and you're not rushed to eat, and the food is delicious. I get the Gyro Salad every time. The lamb and beef are seasoned well, not charred and very tender. The greens have always been fresh in the salad. It's a generous portion, so it becomes two meals for me.

Solid Greek food. Had the grilled chicken platter, my wife had the spanakopita. Both were great. The hummus and tzatziki sauce were fresh--probably even homemade. Service was efficient and prices were reasonable.

Yummy-super stuffed gyro with Greek salad for lunch. Next time I'll get my tzatziki on the side, only because I could only finish half and it'll keep better for later. Planning for future visits, means this place is good stuff. Plus incredibly friendly service.

Started with the hummus and tzaziki sauce. Pretty amazing. My daughter loved the pitas. My hubby and I had the gyro wrap. Great tastes all combined perfectly together. Just a little too large. We could have split one instead if ordering two. My FIL had the octopus salad and are the whole thing and my MiL had the spinach pie and ate the whole thing. Too stuffed for dessert so we didn't have any. The staff here is super friendly. But will we be back? Absolutely.

We love Chris' Taverna. Our first visit was to the Lantana location and the rest were at the Boynton location. The menu is a bit more limited in Boynton - It doesn't have fish or mussels on their menu. But that tells you that they are concerned about quality control. The Boynton location is not as busy as the Lantana one and it's more convenient for us so we generally go there. Their greek salad is fresh and full of flavor and they give you a healthy portion when you get it as a side. The spanakopita is absolutely delicious with the right balance of feta to spinach and, of course, their souvlaki and gyro are great. But don't stick to the old standards. Venture in and taste their dinner items. We often get the shrimp santorini but enjoy the chicken athena too. The only thing we don't love is their tzatziki. It tastes a little closer to mayonnaise than sour cream but maybe thats just a matter of preference. This is a great family business and they deserve the success they have earned.

We have ordered from here three times since it opened recently. We will continue to order it too! So far everything has been outstanding. The Gyros, salads, fries, baklava, EVERYTHING! The place is new so no cleanliness issues so far. The manager is very friendly and the prices are fair. I have a taste for it again just thinking about it!

Greek Cuisine

Greek food is a fine melody of the finest pressed olive oil, fresh fermented bread, colorful vegetables, juicy meat, sea food all cooked in spices and fresh rosemary. The people from Greek were great scholars who aimed to excel in everything they do. The results are quite visible in their food as they are the inventors of olive oil which is beneficial to health. Greeks also made different type of wines from the best quality of grapes fermented in controlled environment.

Today, you can find hundreds of restaurants offering authentic Greek food or popularly termed as Mediterranean cuisine in New York city alone. People wait in line to taste the exotic Greek dishes like saganaki, taramasalata, souvlaki, loukoumades, spanakopita, moussaka, and many more. One thing which most people like about these authentic Greek dishes is abundant use of lemon juice, olive oil, fresh rosemary and sea salt. A smart mix of few ingredients can virtually take you on the pebble streets of beautiful city of Greece.

For those who don't have time to enjoy fine dining should try tasting the famous souvlaki with pita which is type of meat dish, also a trademark Greek fast food. For those who are vegetarian, or vegan can try different versions of Greek Salad. So, if you wish to enjoy a hearty yet healthy meal that tastes divine then try dining at the best Greek restaurant in your city. Greek cuisine not only tastes good but also help maintain your body in a natural way through healthy diet.
